For many years, the Auxiliary was managed by Lu Wanklyn with great vim and determination. With her departure, a committee was formed to fill her shoes.
As the school has grown, new programs have been added to the Auxiliary's efforts: a graduation trip for the grade 6 class to a family island, a Christmas party sponsored by the Lyford Cay club, and a festive Thanksgiving lunch. A reading program and computer program are the latest additions to the Auxiliary's activities.
Our Reading Program
Every Wednesday and Friday morning, teams of volunteers spend a delightful hour under the shade of trees, helping and encouraging the children to read aloud. The teachers have noticed a marked improvement in the reading ability of the students involved in this program.
Volunteers are needed to participate in this rewarding effort.
Our computer program
With 6 computers donated by the TK Foundation, a real computer program has been set up. The teachers have received training by Monica Trentini and have begun integrating the software into their curriculum.
Volunteers are needed to assist with these programs, either by assisting with the computers or reading stories aloud to part of the class.
